For those of us who live in the North, snow and Christmas are usually on our thoughts at the same time. It can be a hassle for grown-ups who worry about travel schedules and road safety. But for children snow just means that there's lots of fun to be enjoyed. If you're a family of snowman builders, who love to spend hours rolling the biggest snowman body possible, then you'll love including a snowman figurine on your Christmas mantle.

My Christmas decorations are also a family scrapbook. I commemorate important family events like births and marriages with their own special ornaments and figurines. But I also like to remember general themes and making snowmen in our family is definitely one of those fun times. It's not uncommon for us to spend part of Christmas Day out in the front yard playing in the snow.

Of course there's the winter toys such as sleds that are fun to play with. There's a pond down the street where the whole neighborhood skates and the kids play hockey.

But we often have a competition to see who can build the tallest snowman (not including the hat). A figurine is a wonderful to remember these happy moments that we spend as a family.
